CONSIDER

Being a good steward of what God has entrusted to us is one of the lifelong lessons we need to learn. As we celebrate SCBC’s 38th anniversary this weekend, let us give thanks to the Lord for what He has done for us and through us over the past 38 years. God has been faithful to us, and we are called to be faithful servants and stewards of His Church.

This weekend’s Scripture, from 2 Corinthians 9:6–15, helps us understand that thanksgiving and giving are closely related. It reminds us that our God is a self-giving God, who gave His only begotten and beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Our thanksgiving flows from the depths of our hearts because of who God is and what He has done. Yet our thanksgiving should also extend to our hands through heartfelt action. To give is an expression of our gratitude.

Let us dive into the Scriptures this week and celebrate 38 years of God’s faithfulness to SCBC.

PRAY

Thank You, God, for loving us and for sending Your only begotten and beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for forgiving our sins, and through Your Son, giving us new life. Thank You for entrusting us with many things so that we may learn true stewardship. Everything belongs to You, Lord. May we continue to give thanks and to give for Your glory and for the sake of Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

DIVING DEEPER

Are we faithfully using the resources that God entrusted us for His Kingdom?

Give is less or Give is more?  What is the Kingdom logic behind this?
