Confession Paves the Way for Transformation

Confession Paves the Way for Transformation

Nehemiah 1

Consider

As we dive into Nehemiah over the next ten weeks, I am excited to see how God will continue to lead and form us.  Nehemiah is a book about vision & hope but it begins in confession.

I think we have a hard time confessing to God and others because it brings up feelings like shame, guilt, and embarrassment.  When we confess, we have to accept that we aren’t as good, wise, or holy as we thought we were.

Yet what if we saw confession as a beautiful gift that draws us back to God and others.  Confession is simply God’s gift to us that heals broken relationships. When we see it this way, we come joyfully confessing because the fruit of confession is authentic, meaningful and deep relationships.

As you come this Sunday, come hopeful in how God will use this series to shape us as a church and also curious to experience how confession paves the way for transformation.

Pray

1 John 1:5-9

“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.  If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.  If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Thank you Father that you are faithful and just to forgive our sin and restore us into right fellowship through the work of Christ on the cross.

Amen.
