1 Corinthians 3:9-17
CONSIDER
There are a lot of good wisdoms we are learning in schools, workplaces, social media, etc. We have been practicing them and having some good results. Hence, we brought those helpful practices into church. Those wisdoms are helpful, but they cannot be the guiding principles of the Church. The one thing we need to remind each other is that the essence of the Church is our Lord Jesus Christ. He died
for us for our salvation, and He died for the Church. Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of the Church, and our primary identity is church. Therefore, we should follow Him, His Words and His wisdom.
Most of the time, our lives are slowly drifting away not because we are doing bad things. We drift away because we are doing the good things but not the essential things because we lose track of our primary identity. This week, we will dive deep into the scripture from 1 Corinthians 3:9-17. There are 3 main metaphors in the chapter: Temple, Building, and Field. How do these metaphors help us to understand how to live our lives together as a church for the glory of God? Let us discern what church should be like.

PRAY
Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for your work on the Cross to give us a free gift of salvation and also the Church. Let us remember our core identity as the children of God and we are together as a family, a building being built, and a field being cultivated by God. May the Holy Spirit continue to dwell in us as we together are the Holy Temple. We are Holy and set apart from this world because of you. Grant us the wisdom and give us the humble heart to follow youonly. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.
DIVING DEEPER
There are 2 sets of comparisons. Discern what is the right way to live.
What do I want from the Church?
VS
How can I live for Jesus Christ as the body of Christ?
Will I have free time to help volunteer in Church?
VS
Will I commit to serve to build up one another as the body of Christ?
