The Danger Of Losing Our Devotion

The Danger Of Losing Our Devotion

Read

Nehemiah 13

Consider

Last week, we learned that the Israelites dedicated the wall of Jerusalem to celebrate God’s faithfulness and the covenant was made earlier between the Israelites and God. Everything was in the right order and the religious rituals were observed. Imagine us working very hard towards a goal and we see how God leads us and guides us to achieve that goal. The goal is achieved and we start to feel comfortable or maybe at the point of complacency. This will be the time we start to enjoy ourselves and lose our devotion to God. This week, let us read Nehemiah 13 and see how this chapter reminds us which areas we need to pay attention to when we start feeling comfortable and complacent in our lives.

Pray

Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for faithfulness and guidance. I ask the Spirit constantly reminds me your grace and blessings bestowed upon me and my family.  Whenever I feel comfortable in my life, may you remind me to focus on you, the source of blessings but not blessings you gave me.  May you give us strength to navigate every challenge I face in my life so that I don’t lose my devotion to you, In Jesus Christ’s name I pray.

Amen.
