Luke 24:28-35
CONSIDER
Christ is Risen and He is Risen indeed! About 2000 years ago, Jesus died on the Cross for our sins. Most of His disciples were disappointed, discouraged, and downcast when He died as they expected Jesus to be a triumphant king and overturn the Roman government. After Jesus was resurrected from His death, He appeared to over 500 people in 40 days. We might expect His disciples to be excited about meeting Him. However, the huge disappointment or confusion might slow down their excitement. In at least three instances from the Bible, the disciples could not recognize Him.
This week, we are diving deep into Luke 24:13-35, one of the narratives describing the encounter between the disciples and the resurrected Jesus. Emmaus is the place where one of Jesus’ disciples was heading to on the way back home from Jerusalem after Jesus died. Like other disciples, they were downcast and did not recognize Jesus when Jesus greeted them. Emmaus was a place of confusion for the disciples but the true encounter with resurrected Jesus made Emmaus a place of transformation.
See you this Easter Sunday.

PRAY
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us. While we were sinner, You sent Your only beloved and begotten Son Jesus Christ to come to this world and died for us and our sins on the cross. Thank God for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The victory over death through the resurrection showed that You are the Lord of life. You gave us peace and power to live for You daily. Thank God for giving us the hope for the eternal future. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
