John 17:1-5

CONSIDER

Our prayers often turn toward our own needs and burdens.  However, from the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

In John 17, Jesus Himself shows us a different posture—one that seeks God’s kingdom first. In His prayer, He lifted up God’s glory and God’s people before anything else.

This week, let us dive into the Scripture of John 17 with open hearts. May we learn from Jesus how to pray when our own needs feel heavy, trusting that as we seek God’s kingdom, He faithfully cares for us.

PRAY

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to be our Savior and Lord. Thank You, Jesus, for showing us how to pray in our moments of need and in times of darkness. May Your protection continue to surround us, and may Your Spirit guide us faithfully on this journey.  Thanks be to God. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.

DIVING DEEPER

How does John 17 help shape our prayer life?

During this Christmas season, may we seek God for a fresh revelation of His mission for us, and may He grant us perseverance to live it out.
