READ
Acts 2:1-24
CONSIDER
The call to be witness and disciple-makers in the world is not a task that is accomplished by our own efforts, but through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Whatever gifts, abilities, and wisdom that God has given us is for the purpose of making Him known and to both share and live out the good news of the gospel.
As we continue to open ourselves up to unexpected ways in which He works among us, we are transformed in our perspective and posture to the work of bringing the hope of Christ to others. Looking forward to our time together in Acts 2:1-24 this coming Sunday!

PRAY
Gracious God, we praise you for you are present and at work in our circumstances and our world, bringing about your Kingdom and changing lives through the good news of Jesus. We ask that you help us to wait on you, to be open to how your Holy Spirit fills our lives and directs us, and to exercise the gifting for the purposes of your mission. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

What stood out to you from the sermon?
Pentecost was a time where Jews who lived all over the Roman Empire and spoke different languages would travel to Jerusalem to celebration together. Why is it significant that the Spirit comes at this time? What does this teach us about the purpose of this book? (Direct people to the fact that the purpose [Acts 1:8] was for the gospel to go out from Jerusalem to the entire world.)
There are two attitudes (see v.12 & 13) that stand out in response to this miracle of speaking in tongues (more specifically here, speaking in other languages). What does this teach us about how to pray or who responds to the sharing of the Good News?
What is the significance of the quote from the book of Joel hundreds of years previous (2:17-21)? (Joel speaks of the pouring out of the Holy Spirit (v18) and the need for each person to call (v21) on the name of the Lord.)
