CONSIDER
According to Statistics Canada, Canadians work an average of 7.5 hours per weekday at their main job and sleep approximately. 7.5 hours per night, leaving us 9 hours of “free time”. If my math is correct, we are spending 45% of our waking hours each weekday working.
At my accounting firm, I work with Partners and colleagues. Two weeks ago, on my return flight to Toronto, I was offered a free seat upgrade. As I don’t get these offers often, I gladly accepted a more comfortable seat. I thanked God for preparing this “nice” seat for me to work for the entire flight. By the time I got on the plane, I learned that I was sitting next to a Partner of mine who is very talkative. Immediately, I was less happy as I knew that not much work would get done.
During the flight, my Partner shared that he was prompted by the Holy Spirit to visit another colleague, who was dying, to share the Gospel. Our colleague was smart, very opinionated and self-confident. My Partner shared the Gospel and asked my colleague if he was willing to accept Christ as his personal Saviour. To everyone’s surprise, he accepted Christ in the Hospital before he passed away.
On my way returning to my seat after my washroom break, I overheard my Partner talking to a flight attendant about Christ. He told me that God prompted the flight attendant to mention “God,” and he took this opportunity to have a conversation about God with her. Before we landed, my Partner had me commit to sharing faith with a couple of my Partners.
I now know that God offered me that seat for a much more eternal reason. God taught me to be more intentional about sharing faith at the workplace. God showed me how to recognize future opportunities to share my faith and be willing and ready to be His witness wherever He places me. Since we spend such a significant part of our lives at work, I pray God would use us to share Christ and point others to Him through our everyday lives.
This week, Angel Morales from LeaderImpact NEXT will share what it means to live missionally in the marketplace.
See you Sunday.

PRAY
Read Colossians 3:23-24
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord who you are serving.”
Pray that when God provides us an opportunity to share Christ at work, we would be ready to share our testimony, open a non-believer’s heart to hear the Gospel and receive His grace.

What makes sharing our faith at work difficult?
How do we avoid “winning the argument” but losing the relationship with our co-workers?
How do we approach religious differences with love, curiosity and respect for our co-workers’ boundaries?
