Nehemiah 5

Consider

If I ask you, who is the best leader you have ever met? Whom would that be? You probably have trouble choosing only one best leader or feel that none exists in your sight.  The best leader must have certain qualities to make them outstanding.  Generally, people would agree that a good leader should have three significant abilities: first, the ability to articulate the vision of a better world; second, the ability to unite people to work together to achieve that vision. And third, the ability to enable that vision to adapt to the change around them.  What do you think? Do you agree?  These three elements to constitute a good leader seem to focus on ability and result.  As a follower of Christ, what does it mean to be a good leader in God?

Come join me this Sunday to learn from Nehemiah’s leadership in his project of rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem.  We will learn some traits of being a good leader that the modern world may have overlooked.

Pray

Dear God, may you give us a clear sight of who we are so that we will choose to lean on your mercy and grace. May you grant us a heart to desire what matters to you, not this world.  Transform us with your strength, wisdom and at your timing.  Thank you, God, and we love you. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
