Acts 6:8-8:3
CONSIDER
The Olympic motto “Higher, Faster, Stronger” was adopted with the launch of the Olympic Movement in 1894 at the urging of founder Pierre De Coubertin, who wanted a slogan that expressed excellence in sport. In 2021, one word was added and became “Higher, Faster, Stronger – Together”.
Humanity, no matter individuals or a community, always strives for excellence. Church communities are no exception and often strive for excellence in ministries. What does it mean by excellence in God’s eyes? This week, we are going through one of the longer speech in the book of Acts. Actually, a big part that Scripture was the defense of Stephen against the charge and accusation from the leaders of the Jews. Going through Acts 6:8 – 8:3, we will notice how God has been faithful to the Israelites and how Israelites missed the mark and focused on the wrong things argued from Stephen’s defense.
After the Stephen incidence in Acts, the history of the church took a dramatic turn. I pray that after your reading of Acts 6-8 and the message this Sunday, the church and our lives will take a turn for God’s glory.

PRAY
Heavenly Father, I give thanks that you are our God. I give thanks that in Your great love, you have given us Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins and that we have new life in you. I give you thanks for your Holy Spirit who continues to shape us individually and as a community.
I pray that you would help me to take part in the community of believers and that you would help us to devote ourselves to You and your people. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
