CONSIDER

In the month of April, SCBC will start a new church-wide sermon series called “The Glorious Church”.  It was inspired by John 1:14,

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.
We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son,
who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The glory of God is reflected upon His church with four key emphases:  Truth, Grace, Incarnation and Fullness.  The church reflects God’s glory by faithfully proclaiming the gospel truth, showing grace to the people particularly to the people who are falling short, walking along-side with the people to encounter God and attaining fullness by building each other up in Christ.

This week, the week after Easter Sunday, we will go through 2 Corinthians chapters 3-4 to study how the glory of the resurrection of Jesus Christ empowers us to embrace the gospel mission to proclaim the Truth with our transformed lives by the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.   Because He lives, our lives are radically transformed for His glory.

PRAY

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for your grace and giving us the privilege to experience the power of the resurrection. May the Spirit transform us to reflect God’s glory and as we died with Christ and raised up with Christ, may the same power lives within us to fulfill God’s mission. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

DIVING DEEPER

The resurrection of Jesus Christ tells us one crucial thing: we are going to be transformed to His likeness. Examine your discipleship journey.

What are the things that God has transformed you?  What are the things that you are reluctantly being transformed by God?

2 Corinthians 4:14-15 says, “because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.

If we would like to live a glorious life, we need to embrace the mission of proclaiming and demonstrating the gospel.  Are you ready for this?
