Equipped to equip others

READ

2 Timothy 2:1-10

CONSIDER

Our strategic focus for 2025-2026 as an English Ministry is: Equipped to equip others.

This is a call for us as a church to continually be equipped in the gospel so that we can equip others. We have received grace after grace so that we can pour that out into others so that our king and his kingdom may be glorified.

The structure of 2 Timothy is simple: Paul is telling Timothy to press into his calling (1:1-2:13) by dealing with false teachers (2:14-4:22). The question is, how is Paul inviting Timothy to do this? The answer lies in 2 Timothy 2:2 – a call to take what we have learned (the gospel) and pass it on to faithful (reliable) people who can teach others.

As we come to worship, I am praying that we come with open hearts ready to receive from God the joy of partnering with Him as He leads our congregation to be equipped in and through the gospel.

PRAY

“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable (faithful) people who will also be qualified to teach others.”

Father, help us live lives where we are constantly being equipped in the gospel so that we can pour our lives out for others. Amen.

DIVING DEEPER

Context: Paul is telling Timothy to press into his calling (1:1-2:13) by dealing with false teachers (2:14-4:22).

Read v2. What is Paul challenging Timothy to do?
How does this help him press into his calling to deal with false teachers?

Read v3-7. How does suffering (v3) connect with the three examples?
What does each example teach us about what it means to be someone who equips others?

Read 8-10. Paul is suffering for the gospel yet is convinced that this is a part of the calling to be a faithful Christian. In what ways have we or should we be prepared to suffer well for Christ?

Meditate on the call to equip others from v2.
How has God invited you to make this a part of your life?
