Psalm 139

CONSIDER

Understanding God’s plan in my life is not an easy journey for me.  It took a while for me to understand why God called me to be a pastor when my experience dealing with computers was way more than ministering to people at that time.   Even now, I don’t understand fully why God called me to be a pastor though I am totally certain that God called me to be one.  I know that God has a great plan for me.  Even though I could not fully grasp why it was happening this way, I submitted to God’s will and trusted God that He will navigate my journey with me.  During my 25 years as a Christ follower, I continued to search and discern how to live my life to glorify God. Through examining my life stories, I slowly discovered what God had done in my life and things started to make sense for me.  I was amazed how God has always been in my life even though I was not aware of God at that time.   The Scripture said:

1Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.  17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God!  How vast is the sum of them! 18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you. (Psalm 139:16-18)

God knows us better than we know ourselves.   Let us be humble before God and discover God from the life stories He has given us.

PRAY

Lord Jesus Christ, search me, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.  May the Spirit continue to guide me to discover who God is and what amazing things He has done in my life.  Thanks be to God, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.

Download “Discover God from your stories” worksheet () and find a quiet time to reflect on how God is shaping you through your life stories.

Ask yourself two important questions from each story:

1) What did you learn about God?
2) What did you learn about yourself?

You can repeat this exercise as many times as you want as I believe God is with us every second of our lives.
