Colossians 1:15-23
CONSIDER
Our lives are surrounded and invaded by competition. Whether it is about the highest quality, best value, or even best fits our personal preference, these types of differentiation fill up our lives. This happens over everyday conversations about franchises, food, technology, politics, schools, and even people. At the heart of this attitude is a need to determine what is superior since whatever holds supremacy is what or who we follow, purchase, invest in, and give our loyalty.
When we examine the witness of Scripture, it testifies to us that there is one who has supremacy over everything: Jesus Christ. He is both the Creator and the one who reconciles creation from its alienation and brokenness. Through His life and work, we see the clearest picture of who God is and His character. This premise and fact is more than just an abstract concept, but rather, how we understand who we are and our purpose in joining with Him in the work of renewal. Let us continue to discern and practically demonstrate the supremacy of Jesus in all of our lives, particularly in His reconciling and peace making work.
Looking forward to exploring Colossians and these themes with all of you this Sunday.

PRAY
Jesus, we acknowledge and praise you for being the One who holds supremacy over all creation. As the creator and reconciler, you hold all things together and they are from you and for you. Would you show us how to live together in such a way that proclaims your lordship and gospel to all spaces and peoples. Mold us as your body, the church, to make visible the love and work of God, making all things new and right again. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
DIVING DEEPER
How would we describe Jesus as being greater than all others? What practical implications and changes does His supremacy make in our lives?
In what ways does our view of the world and others change when we see everything through the lens of Jesus as the creator and reconciler?
How do we define the church as the body inseparable from the head, who is Jesus? In what ways does His purposes and work orient and determine the mission of the church?
What are the challenges and pressures that we face which make it difficult to live out Christ’s supremacy?
