Exodus 3
CONSIDER
One of the hopes of this series through Exodus is to allow the theme of worship and mission to shape the way we live. In today’s text, as Moses approaches the burning bush, we see a tension between two theological ideas; immanence and transcendence of God.
“In general, to say that God is transcendent is to say that He is exalted, above, beyond us. To say that God is immanent is to say that he is present in time and space, that he is near us.” (John Frame).
As we mature as disciples of Christ, we grow in our appreciation and ability to hold in tension that God is otherworldly and over all things AND also personally knows and empathizes with what we are going through.

PRAY
Father, help us to come before you in worship. Help us to see more of you through Scripture. Call us deeper in worship & send us out to continue to participate with you in what you are doing in this world. Amen.
DIVING DEEPER
Read v1-6. What do you notice about the tension as Moses is called toward the burning bush but cannot approach too closely? How does this inform our understanding of God?
Read this article about the transcendence and immanence of God. How does this inform our worship?
Read v7-10. What does it mean that God sees, hears and is concerned about his people? Look back on Exodus 2:23-25 and see how this theme is repeated.
Read v11-12. Often we desire a sign or greater clarity about our calling. How important is it to remember that what we need is for God to be with us? (See Matthew 28:18-20 and the final words of the Great Commission)
Read v13-15. How is God revealing Himself to us in this passage?
In what ways do you relate to Moses and the questions/doubts he raises? How is God challenging you today to continue to trust Him?
