CONSIDER
Have you ever considered what it means to be a disciple? What is discipleship all about? I heard a great analogy recently that discipleship is like being an apprentice; just as a student sits under a Rabbi and walks in their shoes and learns why they do what they do, a follower of Jesus apprentices under Christ. When we become an apprentice, we follow the Master’s way, we learn to think like the Master, we practice doing the things He tells us to do, and we make our entire life about following in his footsteps.
This week as we come to church, I hope we will see the joy that comes when we live out the calling of discipleship. It is a lifetime call to continue to walk in the way of Christ, becoming more like Him each day.
See you Sunday.

PRAY
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus – Phil 1:3-6
DIVING DEEPER
Read v27-30. Looking back at ch7-8, how has Peter come to the conclusion that Jesus is the Messiah?
Read v31. The idea of a Messiah who would suffer, be rejected and killed would have been foreign to the disciples. How strange do you think this idea is today in our society?
Read v32-33. How often do you think you have in mind human concerns over the concerns of God?
Share some examples.
Read 34-38. Note how the road of discipleship is described in a counter cultural way.
What do you find the hardest about being a disciple of Jesus today?
How are you intentionally apprenticing under Christ right now (being his disciple)?
Set yourself a goal of growing in one particular area & share that with another person.
