John 1:1–18 is one of many scriptural passages that I treasure. I believe it captures beautifully the essence of the Gospel – the Good News and revelation of God and His redemptive plan in the person of Jesus Christ. Therefore, when I meditate and reflect upon “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us…”, I am in awe and humble reverence of God and His grace to reconcile humanity to Himself. “And the Word became flesh…” signifies the pinnacle of God’s redemptive narrative in the birth, life & ministry, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. The infinite, almighty God became incarnate – limited and contained in a human body yet fully God and fully man. If however, we were to take liberty and substitute the word “flesh” for any other word in the English language that differs in meaning from flesh, it would change the whole Gospel message! I believe it would nullify the Gospel of reconciliation and new life in Christ. There would be no Good News to share and no need for Missions. Thus in the book of Revelation, God cautioned believers to handle Scripture carefully and to not tamper with His word – lest they ignite God’s judgement and wrath upon themselves. Let us be mindful that as much as He is a God of love, He is also a God of wrath. As followers of Christ, our blessed hope and salvation hinge on this divine historical event, “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (NASB John 1:14)

- June is Missions month at SCBC. Please pray for missionaries who will be sharing their calling and ministries with us. Pray for their spiritual, emotional, psychological and physical health. Pray their sharing would encourage and strengthen believers at SCBC. Please continue to uphold them in your prayers.
- SCBC Orchestra Starlight Serenade –
- Sat. June 16 at 4 pm. Pray this would be an opportunity for us to introduce friends and family members to SCBC. Pray the concert, dinner, and conversation would demonstrate the generous hospitality of SCBC. Pray the seed of the Gospel would be planted in the hearts of seekers and that it would take root. Pray for a blessed night for all involved.

Children’s and Adult Sunday School classes. Kids to Knights and GLO programs. Youth Fellowship. UCC Group. Community Groups. Prayer Meetings. Worship Teams and Choir. May the Lord continue to work in and through us by His Spirit for His glory.

- Please continue to be mindful of the needs of our community & world at large. May I encourage you to pray for needs that arise from day to day? Where ever you may be or what ever you may be doing, would you take a few moments to pray in your mind for our neighborhoods and the world as opportunities and needs arise.
