Be Shrewd and Innocent

Be Shrewd and Innocent

READ

Matthew 10:16-20

CONSIDER

As Jesus sent his disciples into hostile lands to proclaim the hope of the kingdom, there is a beautiful promise found in our passage today. Read Matthew 10:16-20 and note in v20 we do not have to fear not knowing how to respond because the Holy Spirit will give us his words.

As we dive into our second week exploring the importance and calling we have to our vocation, it is vital for us not to forget that God’s Spirit goes ahead of us and gives us wisdom to know how to respond in a work environment that can be hostile to the way of Jesus.

This week we are excited to welcome Dr. Jean Lee from the Canadian Chinese School of Theology Toronto (Tyndale Seminary) to share with us about marketplace ministry and the part we all have to play.

PRAY

Matthew 10:18-20
On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time, you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

Lord, when we face persecution, help us to know that you are with us and will give us the words to speak. As we serve and minister in a world that can be more hostile to the message of Christ, may you allow us to be as shrewd as snakes and innocent as doves as we live out and proclaim the hope of the gospel where you have placed us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

How can we live closer WITH GOD in our lives?

How are we being TRANSFORMED to be more like Christ?

How is the Holy Spirit empowering us to imitate Christ in what we DO this week?
