Communities of Forgiveness

READ

Matthew 18:21-35

CONSIDER

This weekend we are beginning a 4-part series entitled “The Journey Together” that highlights the key values we desire to see shape Community Group Ministry (CG). We will be exploring how CG’s are communities of forgiveness as we unpack how forgiveness is the way of the Kingdom.

As we journey together, we want to invite you to consider joining a community group. Please pray and consider if this is something you would want to be a part of leading or participating in. There will be a sign-up table available weekly after the service.

Come join us Sunday as we dive into the gospel call to be a forgiving community.

Pastor Tim Sreedharan

PRAY

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

Father, help us to be a people who forgive as we have been forgiven. Amen.

DIVING DEEPER

Read Matthew 18:23. What does this teach us about the nature of the kingdom and our king?

As you read through the story, compare and contrast the response of the two servants.

Read through the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13. How does it connect with Matthew 18? A parable is structured with one main point. What is the main point of this parable? What verse provides the best summary of that point?

Check out the article that Pastor Tim mentioned in the sermon (Click HERE) and discuss the difference between forgiveness and reconciliation.
