Isaiah 9:1-7
Consider
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given … he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
The words of Isaiah 9:1-7 speak of the hope of the coming Messiah yet when we look at the context, it was written at a time when Israel was experiencing distress, darkness and gloom. As we approach Scripture this Sunday, I hope we will see that even in the midst of our darkness and gloom, God is reaching out to us. The Prince of Peace, who is our peace, meets us in our moment of despair and can guide us back to Himself.
Looking forward to see you Sunday.

Pray
Our Father in heaven. Help us to not be anxious but through prayer and thanksgiving, continually come to you. When we are experiencing darkness and gloom, we ask that the peace of God, that transcends all logic, will cover our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Thank you for reaching out to us in our distress.
Amen.
(prayer adapted from Phil 4:6-7)
