Overcoming Fear By God’s Strength

Overcoming Fear By God’s Strength

Read

Nehemiah 6:1-19

Consider

When I was a kid, I was afraid of spiders, the dark, and roller coasters.  As I have gotten older, what I fear has changed. I fear failure, letting people down, or not gaining the approval of others.  I fear conflict, not being able to provide for my family, or not being able to find purpose.

The reality is that our fears can paralyze us.  Our fears can cause us to not trust others.  It can hold us back from being people who live authentic lives fueled by the love of Christ.   Our fears can hinder us taking a stand for what is right.

When Nehemiah faces three distinct challenges in chapter six, he does not allow fear to seize him by placing his trust in God.  My hope is that whatever fears holds you back, that you will encounter the risen Christ and He will strengthen you as you go into your week.  See you Sunday.

Pray

The Lord is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
