Consider
June is the Mission Month of SCBC. It is time for us to ponder how do we live our lives with a mission? In Acts 1, the resurrected Jesus told His disciples “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”. We know from the narratives in the book of Acts that many obey what Jesus commanded but they did not do the same thing. Paul’s calling was to preach the gospel to the Gentiles, while Peter’s focus was mainly on the Jews. Some went farther to preach the gospel, some stayed at home to be the faithful witness of our Lord Jesus Christ. Someone once asked me what is my short definition of mission. I told her the mission is proclaiming and demonstrating the gospel of Jesus Christ that God sent us to no matter whether it is near or far. What is the mission of your life? How God will use you to be His witness? Let me share the 4 areas you can consider:
-
- Open our eyes and see the workings of God around us.
- Open our mouths and tell the good news to our neighbors.
- Open our hearts to the possibility to sacrifice for Jesus
- Be the hands and feet of Jesus to serve the broken, hurting, and hopeless
God is always working and He is inviting us to join His work to redeem the world.
Pray
Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for your salvation and your calling for us to be your witness. When we worship you, may your Spirit reminds us that many people do not know you and experience your grace. They do not know who to worship. May your Spirit search us and enlighten us to find the mission you plan for us. May you give us an obedient heart to follow for your glory and your kingdom. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray.
Diving Deeper
Pay attention to God’s work around you. Your mission might be just steps away.
Pray for the potential partnership for the mission of God whether it is near or far?
How can we live closer WITH GOD in our lives?
How are we being TRANSFORMED to be more like Christ?
How is the Holy Spirit empowering us to imitate Christ in what we DO this week?
