{"id":7579,"date":"2018-11-25T09:30:11","date_gmt":"2018-11-25T14:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scbc.com\/em\/?post_type=ctc_sermon&#038;p=7579"},"modified":"2019-06-29T10:53:12","modified_gmt":"2019-06-29T14:53:12","slug":"smelling-like-jesus","status":"publish","type":"ctc_sermon","link":"https:\/\/www.scbc.com\/em\/sermons\/smelling-like-jesus\/","title":{"rendered":"Smelling Like Jesus"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6>Scripture:\u00a02 Corinthians 2:12\u201317<\/h6>\n<p>This Sunday we welcome Shawn James into the pulpit. \u00a0Shawn is the Executive Director of our partner in mission <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbanpromise.com\/\">Urban\u200bPromise Toronto<\/a>. \u00a0This vital, vibrant mission seeks to reach children in Toronto Community Housing with the love of Jesus and raise them into leaders who are able to restore their community.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn grew up in Malvern faced with the challenges of gangs, drugs and violence. After the Lord saved him, he asked his church, \u201cWhat are you going to do to reach kids in our community?\u201d The response was life-changing. \u00a0He was asked, \u201cWhat are you going to do about it?\u201d A light bulb turned on and he accepted the challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn started his journey with Urban Promise in 2001 serving in the Rexdale community, while attending Tyndale University College and Seminary. He became a full-time missionary in 2004 and in 2017 was appointed Executive Director.
