But then, he remembers the small trail markers he had left behind—stones carefully placed to remind him of where he had been and guide him forward.

Just like those markers, God commanded the Israelites to set up twelve stones after crossing the Jordan River. Joshua 3 sets the stage by describing how God stopped the flooded Jordan so His people could cross on dry ground. The priests, carrying the Ark of the Covenant, stepped in first, and as soon as they did, the waters stopped flowing. The entire nation crossed while the priests stood in the middle, showing that God was leading them. This miracle confirmed Joshua’s leadership, just as He had done for Moses at the Red Sea.

But why did God tell them to take twelve stones from the riverbed and set up a memorial? What was so significant about this act that God wanted every generation to remember? This Sunday, we will uncover the powerful lesson behind those stones and how they can shape our faith today.

Pastor Amy Yu

PRAY

Dear God, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude, remembering Your faithfulness through every generation. Just as You led the Israelites across the Jordan, You have led us through trials, provided for our needs, and strengthened us in times of uncertainty. Today, we lift up our families, our church, and our community, asking that we never forget Your mighty works. Lord, help us to recognize and celebrate the spiritual milestones in our lives. Open our eyes to see how You have been at work, and give us boldness to share our testimonies with the next generation. May our lives be living memorials that point others to Your power and love.
