{"id":15996,"date":"2024-10-13T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-13T13:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scbc.com\/em\/?post_type=ctc_sermon&#038;p=15996"},"modified":"2024-11-05T17:02:18","modified_gmt":"2024-11-05T22:02:18","slug":"let-god-be-god","status":"publish","type":"ctc_sermon","link":"https:\/\/www.scbc.com\/em\/sermons\/let-god-be-god\/","title":{"rendered":"Let God Be God, Let Us Give Thanks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-gdm-google-drive-embedder-viewer\"><iframe width='100%' height='100' frameborder='0' scrolling='yes' src='https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1CrOS4Iw1pOcXwdgCzdEgDZAWmoiielyD\/preview?usp=drivesdk' allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n<h6 class=\"p1\"><b>R<\/b><b>E<\/b><b>A<\/b><span class=\"s2\"><b>D<\/b><\/span><\/h6>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Psalm 100<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"p1\"><b>C<\/b><b>O<\/b><b>N<\/b><b>S<\/b><b>I<\/b><b>D<\/b><b>E<\/b><span class=\"s2\"><b>R<\/b><\/span><\/h6>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Psalm 100 is a Psalm of Thanksgiving.\u00a0\u00a0 This short Psalm of only 5 verses really encourages us to be a person of thanksgiving.\u00a0\u00a0 Apostle Paul said in Epistle of 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 that give thanks in all circumstances.\u00a0 Psalm 100 indeed gives us the reason why we need to give thanks in all circumstances, not just favorable circumstances, but also unfavorable.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">What does it mean by let God be God?\u00a0 It does not mean we have the authority to decide who is God.\u00a0\u00a0 It means that we acknowledge and believe God\u2019s sovereignty, power, love and faithfulness.\u00a0 Despite our shortcomings and inadequacies or facing unfavorable circumstances, we believe our loving God is still in control and taking care of us.\u00a0\u00a0 Therefore, we can give thanks in all circumstances.\u00a0 This week\u2019s sermon will help us understand how to live a life of thanksgiving as a missional disciple.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Our thankful heart does not depend on circumstances. God\u2019s faithfulness and grace will come to us despite our sinfulness and shortcomings.\u00a0 In this Thanksgiving weekend, let us contemplate on God\u2019s faithfulness despite our shortcomings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: right;\">Pastor Julian Wong<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"p1\"><b>P<\/b><b>R<\/b><b>A<\/b><span class=\"s2\"><b>Y<\/b><\/span><\/h6>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for Your faithfulness in all circumstance. Grant me a sensitive soul and mind to feel God\u2019s presence in difficult situations because I know you are my God, my Shepherd and my Lord.\u00a0 When things are not going my way, give me the courage to trust God\u2019s way.\u00a0\u00a0 When things are smooth, remind me to thank God\u2019s provision and faithfulness.\u00a0 Help me to continue to live a life to be your missional disciple.<br \/>Thanks be to God, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"p1\"><b>D<\/b><b>I<\/b><b>V<\/b><b>I<\/b><b>N<\/b><span class=\"s2\"><b>G<\/b><\/span> <b>D<\/b><b>E<\/b><b>E<\/b><b>P<\/b><b>E<\/b><span class=\"s2\"><b>R<\/b><\/span><\/h6>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">When was the last time you felt undeserving of God\u2019s grace in your life?<br \/>How did you respond at that time?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">When was the last time you faced difficulties and did not feel God\u2019s presence?<br \/>Does this week\u2019s sermon help you cope with this if it happens next time?
