{"id":15784,"date":"2024-08-25T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-25T13:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scbc.com\/em\/?post_type=ctc_sermon&#038;p=15784"},"modified":"2024-11-05T17:02:59","modified_gmt":"2024-11-05T22:02:59","slug":"prayer-guides-our-mission","status":"publish","type":"ctc_sermon","link":"https:\/\/www.scbc.com\/em\/sermons\/prayer-guides-our-mission\/","title":{"rendered":"Prayer Guides Our Mission"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-gdm-google-drive-embedder-viewer\"><iframe width='100%' height='100' frameborder='0' scrolling='yes' src='https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1YrIbC2t0Rdqp-4tN8A_CzHPq0mbnQvql\/preview?usp=drivesdk' allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n<h6 class=\"p1\"><b>R<\/b><b>E<\/b><b>A<\/b><span class=\"s2\"><b>D<\/b><\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p3\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Colossians 4:2-6<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"p1\"><b>C<\/b><b>O<\/b><b>N<\/b><b>S<\/b><b>I<\/b><b>D<\/b><b>E<\/b><span class=\"s2\"><b>R<\/b><\/span><\/h6>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Did you ever pray to God saying to Him things that never seemed to be heard, or find that God did not provide those that you had asked for?\u00a0 Lots of time, sure!\u00a0 Even King David found the same situation in many instances when He seemed to find his life coming to an end without help from the Almighty God.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Prayer invites God to act in the troubling arenas of life that so need his intervention.\u00a0 It is a process of petition and intercession.\u00a0 We pray earnestly to God for his will to be done, and wait patiently for His intercession and completion in His timing.\u00a0 \u201cSome people think God does not like to be troubled with our constant asking.\u00a0 The way to trouble God is not to come at all.\u201d (Dwight L. Moody).\u00a0 Yet much of our praying seems to consist of informing him of things, or at least reminding him, which seems to be redundant, or coming to him with a list of things needing manipulating or fixing, things God already sees and knows.\u00a0 But true praying is the encountering of the soul with God, knowing that God loves us as his children and is listening intensely as our Heavenly Father.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">In writing to the Colossians, Paul is calling all Christians to a lifestyle of constant prayer and that they should be watchful and thankful about prayer.\u00a0 Our persistence in prayer expresses our faith that God answers prayer.\u00a0 Faith shouldn\u2019t fade if the answers come slowly, for the delay may be God\u2019s way of working out His will in our lives.\u00a0 When you feel tired of praying, remember that God sees you, knows what you need, always listens, and wants to do a great work through you.\u00a0 He will always answer you, maybe not in ways you expect, but in ways that he knows the best.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The \u2018mystery of Christ\u2019 is Christ\u2019s Good News of Salvation, the gospel (1:26-27).\u00a0 The whole focus of Paul\u2019s life was to tell others about Christ, explaining and preaching this wonderful mystery.\u00a0 Paul asked for prayer that he would proclaim the Good News about Christ clearly even though he was in chain.\u00a0 We should also pray that God would bring people into our life who will be interested in knowing more about Jesus.\u00a0 Paul suggests here that we need to be alert and smart, looking for opportunities to tell others about Christ, more loving and creative than ever before in our interactions with nonbelievers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;
