When He says I am the Gate, we have to remember that Jesus also stated in this passage, \u201cI AM the Good Shepherd\u201d (John 10:11) and \u201cthe one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.\u201d (John 10:2).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">There is a powerful promise that Christ makes that is seen in v10. \u201cI have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.\u201d The ESV translates it \u201cand have it abundantly.\u201d When Jesus, our Good Shepherd, gave his life for us, He did it not simply to rescue us from hell. He calls us to an abundant life now in the midst of sin and brokenness through trust in Christ. The gate He opens for us is the only way toward a life of joy, freedom, purpose and rich relationships in this life. As we experience this abundant life, may we bear witness to Christ by inviting those around us to be a part of what He is doing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">See you Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\" style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: right;\">Pastor Tim Sreedharan<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"p1\"><b>P<\/b><b>R<\/b><b>A<\/b><span class=\"s2\"><b>Y<\/b><\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p9\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Father, thank you that you are our Good Shepherd and the gate through which we enter. Thank you that you love us, care for us, and guide us when we go astray. May we, by your grace, continue to walk in step with you as you continue to gather your flock from the ends of the earth until the day of your return. One flock. One Shepherd. Amen.<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"p1\"><b>D<\/b><b>I<\/b><b>V<\/b><b>I<\/b><b>N<\/b><span class=\"s2\"><b>G<\/b><\/span> <b>D<\/b><b>E<\/b><b>E<\/b><b>P<\/b><b>E<\/b><span class=\"s2\"><b>R<\/b><\/span><\/h6>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Read John 10:1-6<br>What is Jesus trying to communicate? Did the Pharisees understand? Why not? (Remember 10:21 reminds us of the connection to the previous story of the man born blind.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Read John 10:22-42<br>Note what we can learn about the character of God. What promises can we cling to?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Read John 10:30-33<br>What does this teach us about the claims of Christ? Look at the two \u201cI AM\u201d statements. What does this teach us about the nature of salvation (gate) and the character of God (Shepherd)? How does this affect the way we pray?
