Maybe this year, we can start a new tradition of remembering God’s calling and God’s faithfulness in our lives. Our God is faithful, when He called us to be His children and to a particular task and/or role, He will be faithful and walk alongside with us when we are responding the calling.

This week, we are reading the first 2 Timothy 1:1-7. Most scholars believed the epistle of 2 Timothy was the last epistle in the New Testament written by Apostle Paul. Paul knew that his time on earth was near the end, he was trying to encourage Timothy to be faithful in living a life worthy of the calling and the ministries God entrusted to him.

The scriptures we are reading this week inspires us how we are to live a life pleasing to God. Let us examine what was the relationship between Paul and Timothy. How did Paul introduce himself to Timothy? How was Timothy’s faith nurtured? I came to realize from my reflective reading that God calls everyone of us to be the shepherd and to build up the people around us. Let us remember God’s calling to us.

Pastor Julian Wong

PRAY

Dear God, give me the courage to embrace the calling you have given me. In this new year, let me experience your love deeply so that I can share you love as the overflow from my heart. Lord, please grant me the power to navigate all the challenges I am facing this year. Most importantly, give me the power to love the people around me regardless the circumstances. May the Holy Spirit guide me and my life will be the examples to others. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray, Amen.

DIVING DEEPER

At the end of your life, what do you think will be the most important from God’s perspectives?

Have you ever experienced a strong calling from God?
