class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<h4><strong>Impact<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Every $50 fundraised at the 2019 Global 6K For Water provides clean\nwater that lasts for one person. 100% of funds raised during this event goes to\nWorld Vision\u2019s Water Projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In the\nregion of Menkao, only 55% of the population has access to potable water, and\nonly 15% having access within 30 mins of their home. During the dry season,\nwomen and young girls have to walk for 3 hours to get water, increasing the\nrisk of being raped. Only 8.4% of households has access to latrines and only\n1.1% have positive waste management practices. World Vis<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ion has identified these issues and have since committed to allocate\nthe 2019 Global 6K funds towards the following projects in the Menkao\ncommunity:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a. Construct 4 wells with water treatment and distribution system that\nwill be built in Menkao center to reduce the waiting time and distance to\ncollect water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b. Establish and train 4 Drinking Water Management Committees on\nmaintenance, sustainability and financial management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c. Train 10 community members on manual and electric pumps repair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>d.
