Jasmine Kwong

Jasmine is currently based in the Philippines with OMF International where she is
focused on creation care. Her role involves both raising awareness about how caring
for creation should be part of the Christian response to loving God the Creator and also
drawing connections through dialogue and engagement with others about how creation
ultimately points us to the Creator. She is also involved in networking with others who
are involved in different aspects of creation care within the Philippines and beyond.
Creation care is not simply about environmental care and stewardship. Our motivation
to respond to the environment should not be out of fear and judgment that our planet
will be destroyed if humanity does not act to “save” it now; rather, our motivation is out
of love and worship to God the Creator who is ultimately the one who redeems all of
creation through Christ. Creation care is linked with shalom – where there is a
reconciling of relationships that have been broken between God, humanity and the rest
of creation. Humanity, as the image bearers of God, have the vocation to help the rest
of creation flourish as we also nurture our own relationship with the Creator and with
others. Yet God remains the only true mender of all things.
