Pastor's Message
Welcome to the “plug in” page of SCBC. We’re delighted that you have taken the time to search us out and find out more about the church. It is our prayer that as you read through these pages you will be able to “plug in” in two significant ways.
We pray first that you will be plugged into God. This is of first importance. Before you think about serving in the church and offering your gifts of service to God, be sure that you are plugged into Him. God is our power source. Like the lamp beside my desk, if it’s not plugged into the socket it won’t be able to offer me any light. But when it’s plugged into the energy source, I know I can rely on it to give light to the whole room.
So we pray that you are plugged into God, that is, depending on Him, trusting Him, growing in our faith relationship with Him through prayer, worship and the study of His Word. In these pages you will see all sorts of opportunities to help you plug into God – worship opportunities, small group studies and Sunday school are just some of the ways that you grow in your relationship with God. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you like to know more about how you can grow in your relationship with God.
We pray second that you will be plugged into service. There is an old slogan that says we Christians have been “Saved to Serve”. It’s true. As we plug into God, we discover that He calls us to give ourselves just as He gave himself to us (John 13:12-15). As you scan these pages, you will discover all sorts of service opportunities. Consider them prayerfully and carefully and then step out in faithful action.
I know God will bless you as you “plug in” to Him through faith and into service for His glory.
In Christ,
Tom Cullen
SCBC English Senior Pastor
I believe that the PLUG IN Program provides a significant step toward helping our members use their gifts well to serve one another.
People need to know these various areas of services and ministry opportunities available in our church. It is a good opportunity for members to pray for these
different ministries and be able to make a decision where they can directly participate and serve.
In the youth ministry where I serve, there are a number of opportunities where our members who have the burden for our youth can exercise their giftedness and express
their love and compassion for the youth. A person who has the burden for prayer can serve to intercede for the youth on a regular basis. There are also various forms of
opportunities to be directly involved in the lives of our youth like being a counselor, a small group leader, a spiritual friend, a big brother or sister, a worship leader,
a summer missions coordinator, and many more.
Every individual in the SCBC family is a masterpiece of God. Our God has planted us in the SCBC community not just to grow, but also to bear fruit.
That's why it is important for all of us to know and understand God's purpose for each one of us. The body of Christ functions well when its individual members do
their parts. That's why we need to plug in our people to ministries and service opportunities where they can express their giftedness and strengths. Let's take a step
beyond just being a spectator and plug in!
Ma. Johnston E. Pablo
Youth Pastor for English Ministry
I am glad to see this initiative "PLUG IN" taking place at SCBC to help our brothers and sisters to connect into this local body of Christ. Having served at
SCBC in both the children and nurture ministries for over a decade, I realize two important things. First, the "real ministers" of church ministry are the
people of the pews. Many times did I tell the children Sunday school teachers and the children workers that they are the real children's pastors and not me!
I am at here just to prepare them for the works of service (Eph 4:12). Second, no one can complete the plan of God without one another.
Take the children ministry as an example, no one has all the gifts, strengths, characters, abilities, skills and knowledge to relate to the children.
We need one another. My experience proves me that if it is not the grace of God to sustain me and the faithful participation of the brothers and sisters
to accomplish the ministry tasks, I cannot keep up with these ministries. It is their efforts to make these ministries going and growing. Some serve in
the front line and some serve behind the scene. Some are good at dealing with people and some are excellent in planning and organizing events. Some focus
on the big picture and some follow through the details. Some are the bible teachers, some are the handy persons, some are the counselors, some are the
encouragers, some are the trainers and some are the fun-makers. Some write and some speak. Any of these roles are so essential in making the ministries
strong and edifying. Never underestimate your participation. No gift is too small to give. One can never imagine that food is the one of the most drawing
power to attract the young people to return years after years and give to the children summer day camp. Making good food sounds so insignificant to neither
outreach nor develop the pupils. However, the Spirit arranges it into the Summerfun ministry and makes it even indispensable. Thanks God that He gives us
the values and the gifts contributing to the unified ministry of the body of Christ.

It has always been my hope to see brothers and sisters discovering their spiritual gifts and using them in ministries.
I believe that serving with one's spiritual gifts benefit both the church and the one serving. I am glad that now we have PLUG IN.
I strongly encourage everyone in ministry planning and everyone serving to put their effort together to help everyone in our church to be PLUGed IN.
