Missions Department

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" - Matthew 28:19.

The Missions department is founded on the Great Commission. Our vision is:

  • To encourage world missions at home and abroad by providing prayer and financial support, and
  • To mobilize SCBC members to engage in missions

The Missions department supports some 35 missionaries and 30 missions related organizations locally and worldwide. In the past we have organized short-term mission trips to China, Panama, and Costa Rica as well as in Toronto to provide opportunities to brothers and sisters to actively participate in missions. Our department consists of a group of about 10 Missions Committee members and plans to form 6-8 Global Missions Outreach (GMO) teams of 5-10 members each team. Our current focus is on missions education and on short-term missions.

Come and join us now and experience the joy of spreading God's love, His Word, and His Salvation to others in Toronto and around the World. What are you waiting for? Contact us if you would like to find out more about us or try out serving in missions at SCBC.

Patrick Lui

"Of all the ministry areas that I have served in, I am most passionate about missions. It is exciting to serve in missions and discover what God is doing throughout the world. I have personally been blessed by missionaries all my Christian life. Rev. Stephen Knights, my mentor who has profound influence on me, was a missionary to China before the Second World War. I have been touched by the lives of many missionaries, who have obeyed the Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations. I have been inspired by their many stories and testimonies, and sacrifices made in taking the good news all over the world to people whom God loves. I count it an honor and privilege to serve them as their ministry partner. In recent years, we have developed the strategic program to promote short-term missions at home and abroad. I am very encouraged to see how God blesses those who serve in missions, both long-term and short-term."
