Evangelism Department (Cantonese Congregation)
What is a good way to spread the Word to God to others in a fun and meaningful manner? That is what the Evangelism department is all about! We are all about inspiring others to seek and spread the living Word. The vision of the Evangelism department is three-fold:
There are currently many different sub-committees in our department which cater to different needs such as Senior Home, Craft, Chinese Opera, Erhu,
Friendship Place, Joyful Time, and Evangelism Bible Study (EBS), below are descriptions of each.
Senior Home - There are many seniors in our committee that would love to hear the word of God! Through support from various fellowship groups we regularly visit and serve at senior homes such as Kennedy Lodge, Mon Sheong, and Yee Hong to bring fun activities to seniors and spread the Good News to them. If you or your fellowship group has a heart for seniors and reaching out to them, we look forward to working with you!
Craft / Chinese Opera / Erhu Classes - These sub-committees are all about encouraging believers and non-believers to come and enjoy their hobbies or learn a new skill. Through different classes we encourage non believers to come and visit us and enjoy fellowship with us and of course to have some fun! Some classes (Chinese Opera) are helped at the Chinese Christian Mission Center (CCMC) at Agincourt Mall and others are held in SCBC. If you have a special skill you would love to share or are interested in the classes, please let us know.
Friendship Place / Joyful Time - Through traditional outreach events we extend the Gospel message to the community. This could be in the form of Christmas Caroling where we bring our song and love to the community or an internal event where we invite others to come into SCBC to enjoy performances.
Evangelism Bible Study (EBS) - Through EBS classes, we provide fundamental gospel messages weekly to seekers. It is a place where others can come to ask questions or just come and learn more about our Savior and all he has done as shown to us through His Word. If you would like to participate as a participant or a teacher please feel free to contact us.
We have many opportunities to serve as one-time project, temporary help, and coordinator, organizer, or administrator in short or long term commitment. If you are interested in joining our department or want to be a part of our events please contact us.

"I started serving in the EBS classes a few years ago and found that I still get excited every time I walked into the classroom. It is a place that you can meet new comers and know them personally. Basically I am not acting as a teacher but a facilitator to lead the seekers into the story of Jesus. With the truth in the Gospel and the power of the Spirit I witnessed the change of lives of many. I also shared their struggles when they faced challenges in trying to commit to Christ. These seekers now become my good friends as well as spiritual siblings. Through preparation for the class, I establish a much stronger understanding of Christ's salvation and strengthen my faith in the love of our Lord.
