Outreach to the Poor

Evangelism


Role: Evangelism Committee member (3+ positions)

Term of Appointment: 1 year +, attending 4 regular meetings per year, different assignment or projects will be given as required

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Gifts of helps, mercy, evangelism, wisdom, administration

Strengths Desired: Someone good in planning, coordinating, organizing, leading short or long term evangelistic activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Brain storming ministry plan or activity
  • Coordinate and organize individual activity
  • Lead a sub-committee

Role: EBS Bible Study Leader (unlimited positions)

Term of Appointment: A term of 6 months with the option of rejoining every other term

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Gifts of encouragement, helps, teaching, and leadership

Strengths Desired: Should be a good teacher, a good listener and effective small group leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and lead the study of gospel chapters in Bible. Partner with another teacher to teach every other week

Role: Evangelism Personnel (outbound calling) (unlimited positions)

Term of Appointment: 3 - 6 months

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Gifts of encouragement, mercy, evangelism, wisdom

Strengths Desired: Good telephone manner to non-believers

Key Responsibilities:

  • To inform a list of non-believers the most current Outreach events via telephone (max 10 per caller)
  • To maintain a simple tracking of call status using the provided template (Excel)

Role: Drivers for either EBS & Joyful Time (unlimited positions)

Term of Appointment: A term of 6 months. Meeting times as listed below:

Joyful Time: Every last Monday of the month

  • Drive to church at 10am
  • Drive to restaurant after program ~12pm
  • Drive home after lunch ~1:30pm

Friday EBS: Every Friday Noon hours

  • Drive to church at 10am
  • Drive to restaurant ~12:15pm
  • Drive to home after lunch ~1:45pm


Spiritual Gifts Desired: helps, giving, and hospitality

Strengths Desired: Should be patient and compassionate. Have a heart to help out those in need of service

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer up time and vehicle to help transport participants who need a ride to activity locations during scheduled meeting dates
  • To help coordinate additional rides as needed

Missions


Role: Missions Committee Member

Term of Appointment: 4-6 meetings per year, minimum 1 year term & 3 years preferred due to complexity of ministry

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Gifts of the heart, action and proclamation

Strengths Desired: someone who have vision and passion for what God is doing in the world, and burden to motivate and mobilize SCBC members to engage in world missions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer Missions Fund
  • Provide prayer and financial support to missionaries and ministry partners
  • Evaluate new ministry opportunities and interview applicants to decide level of support
  • Promote & Encourage missions education among SCBC members
  • Organize special events such as missions month/conference

Role: Global Missions Outreach (GMO) Team Leader

Term of Appointment: minimum 1 year term & 3 years preferred due to complexity of ministry. Monthly meeting or as required

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Gifts of action and the heart

Strengths Desired: someone who have burden for a specific region or ministry, and desire to promote and support missions in your region or ministry

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit GMO team members with burden for a specific region (e.g. Asia GMO team, Latin America GMO team & etc) or ministry (e.g. Hospitality GMO team, Communication GMO team & etc)
  • Communicate with and care for missionaries serving in your region
  • Coordinate and provide support to missionaries from your region on home assignment
  • Arrange sharing meetings at SCBC for missionaries from your region on home assignment
  • Organize study and prayer meetings for your region
  • Research and propose new projects or missionaries in your region for support

  • Share the burden for a specific region (e.g. Asia GMO team, Latin America GMO team & etc) or ministry (e.g. Hospitality GMO team)

  • Provide support to missionaries from your region on home assignment
  • Attend sharing meetings at SCBC for missionaries from your region on home assignment
  • Attend study and prayer meetings for your region
  • Research and propose new projects or missionaries in your region for support

Social Concern


Role: SCBC Drop In Centre/Homework Club volunteers (unlimited positions)

Term of Appointment: Minimum 1 Year term (Every Friday 3:30 pm - 5: 00 pm for homework / 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm for various interest groups)

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Gifts of helps, teaching, encouraging, and counseling

Strengths Desired: Passion to help kids learn

Key Responsibilities:

  • Helping teens academically and developing meaningful relationship with them through extracurricular activities

Role: Everwould Senior Home Volunteers (unlimited positions)

Term of Appointment: one day each month

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Gifts of helps, hospitality, mercy, encouragement, evangelism

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning or just volunteering in indoor/outdoor programs designed for seniors who may or may not be SCBC members

Role: English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers and assistants (unlimited positions)

Term of Appointment: 9:15 am - 11:15 am every Tuesday and Thursday

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Gifts of helps, encouragement, teaching

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching English classes for adults and running pre-school program for children (2-5 years old)

Role: Food drive and charitable giving coordinator and volunteers (unlimited positions)

Term of Appointment: flexible

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Gifts of helps, mercy, giving, and administration

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote food drive and charitable giving activities to relieve poverty and disaster relief both locally and globally

Sports Ministry


Role: SPORTS MINISTRY Gym Lead

Term of Appointment: minimum 4 months (leading once a month on Saturday Nights)

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Gifts of faith, leadership, administration

Strengths Desired: someone who loves sports and meet new people

Key Responsibilities:

  • Invite friends and family to a night of sports
  • Coordinate to set and close up the gym
