Role: CHILDREN DEPARTMENT Administrator (1)

Term of Appointment: one year

Key Responsibilities:

  • Distribute agenda of meetings and organize meetings (booking rooms, ordering food, etc.)
  • Write and distribute minutes of meetings
  • Support the Department in coordinating the many functions of Children Department

Term of Appointment: one year

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform training needs analysis and develop training guidelines for staff and adult volunteers serving at SummerFun, Awana Club and special programs
  • Recruit trainers and support them in writing the training plans
  • Schedule training and liaise with trainers and the Coordinators for SummerFun, Awana Club and Special Programs and ensure that scheduled training take place on target dates
  • Support trainers in facilitating the training (e.g., booking rooms and tools)
  • Document and keep proper records of all training (e.g., signing sheets of trainers and trainees)

Role: CHILDREN DEPARTMENT Coordinator, Special Programs (1)

Term of Appointment: one year

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and lead the SummerFun Planning Committee to plan and organize all camp activities during the planning stage from January to June
  • Support the camp staff in execution of the camp activities
  • Review the camp activities and record areas of improvements in August
  • Passion in leading teams and organizing events for children

Sunday School


Role: SUNDAY SCHOOL PRIMARY DIVISION Bible teachers / Teacher Assistants

Term of Appointment: Minimum 1 year term from September to August of the following year. However, we would like to encourage our teachers to stay for 2 years as the students would remain in the same unit for a period of 2 years and then promoted to another unit. Teachers or Teacher Assistants are required to be at the Sunday School hour, either from 9:30 am to 10:45 am or 11:00 am to 12 :30pm.

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Gift of Pastoring/Shepherding and gift of teaching

Strengths Desired: love for children and strength of communications and creativity, has solid understanding of the scripture

Key Responsibilities:

  • To be the role model for the children
  • To prepare the lesson before the Sunday School class
  • To implement the curriculum as set out by the Sunday School Department
  • To be at the classroom in 15 mins early before the start of the class to greet the students; especially the new comers
  • To support each students in prayer and encouragement
  • To visit or call students when necessary

SummerFun


Role: SUMMERFUN Program Coordinator, Craft (1)

Term of Appointment: This is a voluntary position and serves on the SummerFun Planning Committee from January to June

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Love, Encouragement, Knowledge, Leadership and Teaching

Strengths Desired: Creativity, understanding the learning behaviours of children and youths, creativity in designing and creating craft items suitable for young children, problem solving

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Craft Planning Team (adult volunteers) to:

  • design and create craft items for campers
  • purchase and package craft materials for camp staff and campers
  • prepare craft samples and work instructions for the camp staff
  • teach craft items and show samples to camp staff
  • support the camp staff on their teaching to the campers

Role: SUMMERFUN Program Coordinator, Special Interest Sessions (1)

Term of Appointment: This is a voluntary position and serves on the SummerFun Planning Committee from January to June

Strengths Desired: Creativity, Knowledge in a variety of interests and resources suitable for young children, organizing and problem solving

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Special Interests Planning Team (adult volunteers) to:

  • source special interest activities for the camp
  • organize the interest sessions and invite speakers/coaches/organizations for the sessions
  • follow up with the speakers/coaches/organizations and ensure that safety elements are taken into consideration
  • brief Camp Directors on the interest sessions and have them ensure that the speakers/coaches/organizations follow the church policies in providing service to the camp

Role: SUMMERFUN Program Coordinator, Trips (1)

Term of Appointment: This is a voluntary position and serves on the SummerFun Planning Committee from January to June

Strengths Desired: Creativity, Knowledge in a variety of field trips and resources suitable for young children, organizing and problem solving

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Field Trip Planning Team (adult volunteers) to:

  • source field trip activities for the camp
  • pay site visits, organize and book the trips and buses
  • brief Camp Directors on the field trips; have the directors visit the sites and plan the day trip program in details in June; Camp Directors should brief Divisional Coordinators on the trip details in training week before the camp

Role: SUMMERFUN Promotion Coordinator (1)

Term of Appointment: This is a voluntary position and serves on the SummerFun Planning Committee from January to March

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Love, Administration, Knowledge

Strengths Desired: Creativity, Knowledge and Passion in designing communication materials such as banners, flyers, bulletin boards, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote SummerFun in a creative manner
  • Design and prepare the promotional materials for the camp: flyers, bulletin boards, inserts to Sunday Service bulletins, slides, DVD, etc.
  • Organize promotional briefings at Sunday Service and Fellowships by contacting the SCBC AV team and former SummerFun personnel
  • Contact the outside media (TV, radio, newspaper) for making announcement of the camp in March or April
  • Contact the nearby store owners (shops, restaurants) to see if SummerFun flyers can be displayed at their stores in March and April
  • Have the SummerFun banner mounted along Kennedy Road by late Febraury

Role: SUMMERFUN Staff Recruiters (2 to 4)

Term of Appointment: This is a voluntary position and serves on the SummerFun Planning Committee from January to March

Strengths Desired: Knowledge and Passion for building young people for spiritual growth and leadership

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Staff Recruiting Team in selecting camp staff through the following process:

  • Update the Staff and Volunteer Application forms and have copies ready for use
  • Post Application forms on the SCBC web and have hard copies for distribution
  • Receive all application forms, schedule interviews and contact applicants
  • Update the Interview and Reference Checking questionnaires and prepare copies
  • Interview the applicants and perform reference check
  • Prepare offer letters and notify applicants the interview results and training schedule
  • Attend the Exit Interviews of camp staff

Role: SUMMERFUN Head Mentor (1 per week), Divisional Mentor (3 per week)

Term of Appointment: This is a voluntary position and serves one week of the camp

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Head Mentor:

  • Relevant experiences in children’s ministry
  • Greet and answer questions as parents and campers come and leave the camp
  • Provide support to the Camp Directors in trouble shooting problems

Divisional Mentor:

  • Relevant experiences in children’s ministry
  • Coach and encourage the Divisional Coordinator on execution of camp activities
  • Provide support to the Divisional Coordinator and camp staff in trouble shooting problems

Role: SUMMERFUN Trip Mentor (15 per week)

Term of Appointment: The Trip Mentor, a voluntary adult position, serves on field trips during July, Wednesday and/or Friday each week. You may serve one or more trips

Strengths Desired: Passion for children, Safety Knowledge and Problem Solving

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  • Relevant experiences in children’s ministry
  • Coach and encourage the Divisional Coordinator on field trips
  • Provide support to the Divisional Coordinator in supervising the camp staff during trips

Role: SUMMERFUN Bible Teacher (3 per week)

Term of Appointment: This is a voluntary position and serves one week of the camp

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Teaching, Discernment, Encouragement, Prophecy, Wisdom, Knowledge

Strengths Desired: Passion for children, Creative Communication and Presentation Skills

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  • Relevant experiences in teaching bible in the children ministry
  • Prepare lessons and audio/visual materials for bible times according to the selected curriculum and theme for the camp
  • Interact with campers and encourage their participation during bible times

Role: SUMMERFUN Cooking Team (3 to 4 per week)

Term of Appointment: The Cooking Team Member, a voluntary adult position, serves one week of the camp during July

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Giving, Helps, Hospitality, Mercy, Knowledge

Strengths Desired: Passion for children and youths, Administration and Leadership

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  • Qualified SCBC kitchen user
  • Plan and cook the meals (breakfast, lunch, snacks) for camp staff and adult volunteers
  • Purchase the materials for all meals
  • Check with Camp Directors for food allergies of campers and ensure food safety at all times

Role: SUMMERFUN Health Aiders (1 per week)

Term of Appointment: The Health Aider, a voluntary adult position, serves one week of the camp during July

Spiritual Gifts Desired: Spiritual gifts of the Heart, Action and Administration

Strengths Desired: Passion for children and strengths of administration, leadership, encouragement, counseling

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  • Qualified or experienced Nurse or First Aiders
  • Review the First Aid supplies and replenish as required before the camp and trips
  • Brief camp staff on camp safety and health aid procedures
  • Establish the Health Aid booth at the camp
  • Attend campers and camp staff seeking health aid during the camp
  • Record all health aid requests in the Health Aid record book
  • Report serious cases to Camp Directors and Children Pastor

Role: SUMMERFUN Camp Director (2)

Term of Appointment: This is a paid position, working from mid-May to early August

Strengths Desired: Passion for children, Administration, Leadership, Encouragement, Counseling, Problem Solving

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in university with relevant experiences in children’s ministry
  • Oversees the overall operation of the camp
  • Directs the execution of all camp activities
  • Supervises Divisional Coordinators
  • Demonstrates and provides leadership and support to all camp staff
  • Acts as a good role-model to camp staff and campers

Role: SUMMERFUN Divisional Coordinator (3)

Term of Appointment: This is a paid position and works from late June to end of July

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  • Have relevant experiences in children’s ministry
  • Oversees the operation of the camp within the division (Gd 1-2, 3-4, or 5-6)
  • Co-ordinates and leads division and team meetings and camp activities
  • Demonstrates and provides leadership to camp staff within the division
  • Acts as a good role-model to camp staff and campers

Nursery


Role: Nursery Helper

Term of Appointment:

  • one Sunday (1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th) every month
  • monthly
  • a full year


Strengths Desired:

  • A love for babies/toddlers
  • To be able to interact with babies and toddlers at their level
  • Helping babies/toddlers grow spiritually and develop a sense of independence


Key Responsibilities:

  • Care for the babies/toddlers
  • Administrative (e.g. photocopying newsletters, teaching resources, attendance list)
  • Planning committee
  • Teach/share a simple story based on the theme of the month and sing a few simple songs
  • Greet parents and attendees
