Pastor Anthony Cheung

Children Ministry Pastor

I was born in a typical Hong Kong family and I have a younger sister. It was in my first summer course in seminary that I met the woman that changed my life – my wife! We have been happily married since 2004. My wife is also a pastor and we have dedicated ourselves to serving God with all our heart.

Significant Influences

There are so many of them! Needless to say, Jesus my Lord influenced my value. I was blessed with a very good mentor, the late Rev. Roy Hirons, a retired SIM missionary. He inspired me to serve God wholeheartedly. And please don’t laugh, but I greatly admire the legendary Zhuge Liang (諸葛亮)! If you don’t know who Liang is, watch the movie Red Cliff. To me, Liang is the model of loyalty, wisdom and vision. I pray that I will serve God like how Liang served his master.

Interests

  • Badminton, reading, traveling and visiting museums.

Favourite Books

  • The Bible, of course.
  • My favourite authors are Paul Scott Wilson (preaching) and Henri Nouwen (spiritual formation).
  • I am a big Jin Yong (金庸) fan. I love his The Smiling, Proud Wanderer (笑傲江湖).

Favourite Movies

  • The Indian/Bollywood movie Like Stars on Earth! It is about an art teacher that goes the distance to help a dyslexic child to excel. I highly recommend it if you want to work with children!
  • Dead Poet Society is another one. It is about an English teacher that inspires his students to change their lives of conformity.

And if you know of any good movie on childhood development, you have to let me know!
